Words and Deeds

We love to hear ourselves talk.
We desire to fill space
with our "enlightened" words...
Shrinking and cowering,
we pause to reflect
on the consequences
of taking
any
kind of action...
Will making a move
lead us into a tunnel
of unwanted and burdened
responsibility?
Shall we reap for ourselves
as we cautiously give
in obliged trepidation?
What
shall be OUR harvest,
we selfishly ask?

Only "God, who sees all hearts,
knows how far
our lives are the fulfillment
of our words."  (-'Abdu'l-Bahá )
