The Peace Carol
Music and Lyrics by
Robert H. Beers
                       (3/4 time)

    G / / 2 / / Am / / 2 / / D7 / / 2 / / G / / 2 / /
                          Am
The garment of life, be it tattered and torn
   D7                      G
The cloak of the soldier is weathered and worn
   Em                          Am
But what child is this that was poverty-born
   D7                 G
The peace of Christmas Day

CHORUS :
The branch that bears the bright holly
The dove that rests in yonder tree
The light that burns for all to see
The peace of Christmas Day

Verse 2:
A hope that has slumbered for 2000 years
A promise that silenced a thousand fears
A faith that can hobble an ocean of tears
The peace of Christmas Day

(chorus)

Verse 3:
Add all the grief that people may bear
Total the strife, the troubles and care
Put them in columns , then leave them
all there,
The peace of Christmas Day

The Peace Carol
It is my conviction that the Peace Carol speaks to the longing of every heart. That the promise of peace which has "slumberd for 2000 years" has been now recognized by many peoples, from all religions and cultures , as the Baha'i Faith...a faith for a New Era and for all mankind.
Today, the Bird of Peace lives in a Tree, planted in the midmost heart of the world and has been enscribed in the hearts and actions of those who recognize and further the Cause of Universal Peace.
It was through my fathers music and his belief in the Oneness of Mankind, that I was nurtured and brought to the realization that peace is within the grasp of all, if only we reach out to one another in love, brotherhood and faith.
I offer you the Peace Carol as a token of my love and longing for Global Unity and invite you to learn, sing and share it with all of your heart (s)

                Martha (Beers) Meshberg

Note:  Though the Peace Carol was written as a Christian Christmas Carol, and refers to Christ, we may also realize that all Prophets from all Faiths have prophesied the time when a new Messenger would come into the world who would bring with his teachings a universal peace and a new Golden Era.
I feel that my fathers song, the Peace Carol, refers to the leaving behind of the strife and differences of all people and that the "Peace of Christmas Day" is that which should be carried into all of our days and into the construction of the future.
