Oh, trust in God! for His Bounty is everlasting, and in His Blessings, for they are superb. Oh! put your faith in the Almighty, for He faileth not and His goodness endureth for ever! His Sun giveth Light continually, and the Clouds of His Mercy are full of the Waters of Compassion with which He waters the hearts of all who trust in Him. His refreshing Breeze ever carries healing in its wings to the parched souls of men!

In accordance with the Divine Teachings,  the aquisition of sciences and the perfection of arts is considered as acts of worship. If a man engages with all his power in the aquisition of a science or in the perfection of an art, it is as if he has been worshipping God in the churches and temples.

Immerse yourselves in the ocean of My words, that ye may unravel its secrets, and discover all the pearls of wisdom that lie hid in its depths.

December 1- 8, 2001

This is a new cycle of human power. All the horizons of the world are luminous, and the world will become indeed as a garden and a paradise....  The gift of God to this enlightened age is the knowledge of the oneness of mankind and the fundamental oneness of religion.

Beware lest ye harm any soul, or make any heart

O Son of Man!
Should prosperity befall thee, rejoice not, and should abasement come upon thee, grieve not, for
both shall pass away and be no more.

The solution of economic questions will not be brought about by array of capital against labor, and labor against capital, in strife and conflict, but by the voluntary attitude of goodwill on both sides.
Then a real and lasting justness of conditions will be secured...

Each Prophet fulfilled the promise of the One Who
came before Him and, likewise, Each announced the One Who would follow. Consider how Abraham foretold the coming of Moses, and Moses embodied the Abrahamic statement. Moses prophesied the Messianic cycle, and Christ fulfilled the law of Moses. It is evident, therefore, that the Holy Manifestations Who founded the religious systems are united and agreed; there is no differentiation possible in Their mission and teachings; all are reflectors of reality, and all are promulgators of the religion of God. The divine religion is reality, and reality is not multiple; it is one. Therefore, the foundations of the religious systems are one because all proceed from the indivisible reality....

We must be like the fountain or spring that is continually emptying itself of all that it has, and is continually being refilled from an invisible source. To be continuallly giving out for the good of our fellows undeterred by the fear of poverty and reliant on the unfailing bounty of the Source of all wealth and all good- that is the secret of right living.

Jaunuary 19-26, 2002

As to spiritual happiness, this is the true basis of the life of man, for life is created for happiness, not for sorrow; for pleasure, not for grief.  Happiness is life; sorrow is death. Spiritual happiness is life eternal.

Jaunuary 26-February 2, 2002

If it be Thy pleasure, make me to grow as a tender
herb in the meadows of Thy grace, that the gentle winds of Thy will may stir me up and bend me into conformity with Thy pleasure, in such wise that my movement and my stillness may be wholly directed by Thee.

Thy wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of Spirit.

O rulers of the earth!  Be reconciled among yourselves, that ye may need no more armaments save in a measure to safeguard your territories and dominions.  Beware lest ye disregard the counsel of the All-Knowing, the Faithful.
Be united, O kings of the earth, for thereby will the tempest of discord be stilled amonst you, and your peoples find rest, if ye be of them that comprehend.  Should any one  among you take up arms against another, rise ye all against him, for this is naught but manifest justice.

It is permitted that the peoples and kindreds of the world associate with one another with joy and radiance. O People! The Celebration of Ayyám-i-Há

Note: The Celebration of Ayyám-i-Há, the Intercalary Days, will begin at sunset (February 25) and continues until sunset on March 1st.  Ayyám-i-Há is a time of preparation for the Nineteen Day Fast (March 2-20 )
It is also a time for hospitality, charity and the giving of presents.

                             (Quotes Below)

My God, my fire and my light! The days which Thou hast named the Ayyám-i-Há in Thy Book have begun, O Thou Who art the King of names, and the fast which
Thy most exalted Pen hath enjoined unto all who are in the kingdom of Thy creation to observe is approaching: I entreat Thee, O my Lord... to grant that unto every soul may be assigned a place within the precincts of Thy court, and a seat at the revelation
of the splendors of the light of Thy countenance.

                                         -Bahá 'u' lláh

Happy is the soul hat shall forget his own good,
and like the chosen ones of God, vie with his fellows
in service to the good of all...

                                         -'Abdu'l-Bahá
March 1- 10, 2002

The  Bahá'í month of Loftiness begins  March 1st at sunset. The coming month is the month of the Nineteen Day Fast (March 2-20). All Bahá'ís from the age of fifteen to seventy years old must abstain from food and drink between the sunrise and sunset on each of the nineteen days of the month of Loftiness. Travelers, the sick, those engaged in heavy physical labor, and women who are pregnant, nursing, or menstruating are exempt from the fast.

A Prayer

Praise be to Thee, O Lord my God!  I beseech Thee
by this Revelation whereby darkness hath been turned
into light, through which the Frequented Fane hath
been built, and the Written Tablet revealed, and the
Outspread Roll uncovered, to send down Upon me and
upon them who are in my company that which will enable us to soar into the heavens of Thy transcendent glory, and will wash us from the stain of such doubts as have hindered the suspicious from entering into the
tabernacle of Thy unity.

I am the one, O my Lord, who hath held fast the
cord of Thy loving-kindness, and clung to the hem of
Thy mercy and favors.  Do Thou ordain for me and for
my loved ones the good of this world and of the world
to come.  Supply them, then, with the Hidden Gift Thou
didst ordain for the choicest among Thy creatures.

These are, O my Lord, the days in which Thou hast
bidden Thy servants to observe the fast.  Blessed is
he that observeth the fast wholly for Thy sake and
with absolute detachment from all things except Thee.
Assist me and assist them, O my Lord, to obey Thee and to keep Thy precepts.  Thou, verily, hast power to do what Thou choosest.

There is no God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the
All-Wise.  All praise be to God, the Lord of all
worlds.

All Bahá'ís from the age of fifteen to seventy years old must abstain from food and drink between the sunrise and sunset on each of the nineteen days of the month of Loftiness. Quote below:

O Thou Whose nearness is my wish, Whose presence is my hope, Whose remembrance is my desire, Whose court of glory is my goal, Whose abode is my aim, Whose name is my healing,Whose love is the radiance of y heart, Whose service is my highest aspiration! I beseech The by Thy Name, through which Thou hast enabled them who have recognized Thee to soar to the sublimest heights of the knowledge of Thee and empowered such as devoutly worship Thee to ascend into the precincts of the court of Thy holy favors, to aid me to turn my face towards Thy face, to fix mine eyes upon Thee, and to speak of Thy glory.

                                                                     --Baha'u'llah

March 20-21, 2002.
The celebration of Naw-Ruz, the month of Bahá, and the new Bahá'i year all begin at sunset on March 20. March 21 is a Holy Day; Bahá'is should make every effort to be excused from work and school.

Quote below:

Happy the one who entereth upon the first day of the month of Bahá, the day which God hath consecrated to this Great Name. And blessed be he who evidenceth on this day the bounties that God hath bestowed upon him....Say: This day, verily, is the crown of all the months and the source thereof, the day on which the breath of life is wafted over all created things.

                                                             --Baha'u'llah

March 22-31, 2002

There can be no doubt whatever that the peoples of the world, of what ever race or religion, derive their inspiration from one heavenly Source, and are the subjects of one God.

                                                                 --Baha'u'llah

What profit is there in agreeing that universal friendship is good, and talking of the solidarity of the human race as a grand ideal? Unless these thoughts are translated into the world of action, they are useless.

                                                                -Abdu'l-Bahá

March 31-April 7, 2002

The Person of the Manifestation hath ever been the representative and mouthpiece of God. He, in truth, is the Dayspring of God's most excellant Titles, and the Dawning-Place of His exalted Attributes.

                                                               --Baha'u'llah

When, O Wise One, shall the wills of the future saviors come forth, The dawns of the days when, through powerful judgement, The world shall uphold Righteousness?  To whom will help come through the Good Mind? To me, for I am chosen for the revelation by thee, O Lord.

                   -Zoroastrian Scriptures (Avesta/Yasna 46:3)
April 7-13, 2002

O Oppressors of Earth!
Withdraw your hands from tyranny, for I have pledged Myself not to forgive any man's injustice. That is My covenant which I have irrevocably decreed in the preserved tablet and sealed it with My seal of glory.

                                                --Baha'u'llah

Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

                                                  -Proverbs 3:31

April 13-20, 2002
O Son of Being!
Bring thyself to account each day ere thou art summoned to a reckoning; for death, unheraled, shall come upon thee and thou shalt be called to give account for thy deeds.

                                                --Bahá 'u' lláh

April 20-27, 2002

The First Day of Ridván, which begins April 20 at sunset, is a Holy Day; Bahá'ís should make every effort to be excused from work and school. Ridván lasts for twelve days. During this time in 1863 Bahá 'u' lláh announced that He was the Prophet of God for this age. Ridván is a joyous and happy time. Bahá'í communities should celebrate the First Day of Ridván on April 21st at 3:00 P.M.

Quotes Below:

Verily, all created things were immersed in the sea of purification when, on that first day of Ridván, We shed upon the whole of creation the splendors of Our most excellant Names and Our most exalted Attributes. This, verily, is a token of My loving providence, which hath encompassed all the worlds.

                                                   -Bahá 'u' lláh

Consider the hour at which the supreme Manifestation of God reavealeth Himself unto men. Ere that hour cometh, the Ancient Being, Who is still unknown of men and hath not as yet given utterance to the Word of God, is Himself the All-Knower in a world devoid of any man that hath known Him. He is indeed the Creator without a creation. For at the very moment preceeding His Revelation, each and every created thing shall be made to yeild up its soul to God. This is indeed the Day of which it hath been written:  "Whose shall be the Kingdom this Day?"  And none can be found ready to Answer!

                                          -Bahá 'u' lláh

April 27- May 4, 2002

The Ninth Day of Ridván begins April 28th at sunset. April 29th is a Holy Day; Bahá'ís should make every effort to be excused from school and work.

Quote Below:
Verily I say, this is the Day in which mankind can behold the Face, and hear the Voice, of the Promised One. The Call of God hath been raised, and the light of His countenance hath been lifted up upon men. It behoveth man to blot out the trace of every idle word from the tablet of his heart, and to gaze, with an open and unbiased mind, on the signs of His Revelation, the proofs of His Mission, and the tokens of His glory.

                                            -Bahá 'u' lláh
May 4-11, 2002

O Son of the Throne!
Thy hearing is My hearing, hear thou therewith.
Thy sight is My sight , do thou see therewith, that in thine inmost soul thou mayest testify unto My exalted sanctity, and I within Myself may bear witness unto an exalted station for thee.

                                                        -Bahá 'u' lláh

May 11- 18, 2002

All created things have their degree or stage of maturity. The period of maturity in the life of a tree is the time of its fruit-bearing....and in the human kingdom man reaches his maturity when the light of his intelligence attains its greatest power and development....Similarly there are periods and stages in the collective life of humanity. At one time it was passing through its stage of childhood, at another its period of youth, but now, it has entered its long predictated phase of maturity, the evidences of which are everywhere apparent.... Man must now become imbued with new virtues and powers, new moral standards, new capacities.  New bounties, perfect bestowals, are awaiting and already decending upon him. The gifts and blessings of the period of youth, although timely and sufficient during the adolescence of mankind, are now incapable of meeting the requirements of its maturity.

                                                      -'Abdu'l-Bahá

May 18-25, 2002

Every man of discernment, while walking upon the earth, feeleth indeed abashed, inasmuch as he is fully aware that the thing which is the source of his prosperity, his wealth, his might, his exaltation, his advancement and power is, as ordained by God, the very earth which is trodden beneath the feet of all men.  There can be no doubt that whoever is cognizant of this truth, is cleansed and sanctified from all pride, arrogance and vainglory.

-Bahá 'u' lláh, Epistle to the Son of the Wolf, p.44
May 25-June1, 2002
The civilization, so often vaunted by the learned exponents of arts and science, will, if allowed to overleap the bounds of moderation, bring great evil upon men.  Thus warneth you He Who is the All-Knowing. If carried to excess, civilization will prove as prolific a source of evil as it had been of goodness when kept within the restraints of moderation. Meditate on this, O people, and be not of them that wander distraught in the wilderness of error. The day is approaching when its flame will devour the cities, when the Tongue of Grandeur will proclaim: "The Kingdom is God's, the Almighty, the All-Praised!"

of Bahá 'u' lláh, pp. 342-343

June 1-8, 2002

O Son of Man!
If adversity befall thee not in My path, how canst thou walk in the ways of them that are content with My pleasure? If trials afflict thee not in thy longing to meet Me, how wilt thou attain the light in thy love for My beauty?

                                                              -Bahá 'u' lláh

We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience...

                                                               -Romans 5:3

June 8-15, 2002

O Son of Man!
Deny not My servant should he ask anything from thee, for his face is My face; be then abashed before Me.

                                                            -Bahá 'u' lláh

And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

                                                     Matthew 5:40- 41

June 15-22, 2002

The All-Knowing Physician hath His finger on the pulse of mankind. He perceiveth the disease, and prescribeth, in His unerring wisdom, the remedy. Every age hath had its own problem, and every soul its particular aspiration. The remedy the world needeth in its present-day afflictions can never be the same as that which a subsequent age may require. Be anxiously concerned with the needs of the age ye live in, and centre your deliberations on its exigencies and requirements.

June 22-29, 2002

Wert thou to attain to but a dewdrop of the crystal
waters of divine knowledge, thou wouldst readily
realize that true life is not the life of the flesh but the life of the spirit.

June 29 - July 5, 2002

The first trainer of the child is the mother. The babe, like unto a green and tender branch, will grow according to the way it is trained. If the training be right, it will grow right, and if crooked, the growth likewise, and unto the end of life will it conduct itself accordingly.

July 5-13, 2002

All Nations and kindreds will be gathered together under the shadow of this Divine Banner...and will become a singel nation. Religious and sectarian antagonism, the hostility of races and peoples, and differences among nations, will be eliminated. All men will adhere to one religion, will have one common faith, will be blended into one race and become a single people.

                                                              -'Abdu'l-Bahá

They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and
their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

July 13-20, 2002

O my Lord! Make Thy beauty to be my food, and Thy presence my drink, and Thy pleasure my hope, and praise of Thee my action, and remembrance of Thee my companion, and the power of Thy sovereignty my succorer, and Thy habitation my home, and my dwelling-place the seat Thou hast sanctified from the limitations imposed upon them who are shut out as by a veil by Thee

                                                              -Bahá 'u' lláh

So powerful is the light of unity that it can illumine the whole earth. The one true God, He who knoweth all things, Himself testifieth to the truth of these words.... This goal excelleth every other goal, and this aspiration is the monarch of all aspirations.

Question:

What is meant by the term "progressive revelation"?

Answer:

"Progressive Revelation" refers to the belief that God has a great plan that He unfolds to humanity in different periods in history. Each Messenger of God (such as Moses, Christ, or Bahá 'u' lláh ) reveals a new stage of this plan.
Every Prophet Whom the Almighty and Peerless Creator hath purposed to send to the peoples of the earth hath been entrusted with a Message, and charged to act in a manner that would best meet the requirements of the age in which He appeared.

                                                                              -Bahá 'u' lláh

God leaves not His children comfortless, but when the darkness of winter overshadows them, then again He sends His Messengers, the Prophets, with a renewal of the blessed spring.

Aug 10-17, 2002

The Prophets of God should be regarded as physicians whose task is to foster the well-being of the world and its peoples, that, through the spirit of oneness, they may heal the sickness of a divided humanity.

                                                                                                                                                                                                           'Abdu'l-Bahá              '

Humanity is not perfect. There are imperfections in every human being,  and you will always become unhappy if you look toward the people themselves. But if you look toward God, you will love them and be kind to them, for the world of God is the world of perfection and complete mercy.

Aug. 31- Sept. 7

The Divine Reality may be likened to the sun and the Holy Spirit to the rays of the sun. As the rays of the sun bring the light and warmth of the sun  to the earth, giving life to all created beings, so do the "Manifestations" (of God) bring the power of the Holy Spirit from the Divine Sun of Reality to give light and life to the souls of men.

Sept. 7-14, 2002

That which ye were promised in the Kingdom of God is fulfilled. This is the Word which the Son veiled when He said to those around Him that at that time they could not bear it...Verily the Spirit of Truth is come to guide you unto all truth...He is the One Who glorified the Son and exalted His Cause.

                                                                      -Bahá 'u' lláh

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth....

                                                                     - John 16:12-13

Sept. 14-21, 2002

Grief and sorrow do not come to us by chance, they are sent to us by the Divine Mercy for our perfecting.
While a man is happy he may forget his God, but when grief comes and sorrows overwhelm him, then will he remember his Father Who is in Heaven, and Who is able to deliver him from his humiliations.

                                                                  -'Abdu'l-Bahá

Sept. 21-28, 2002

The day is approaching  when the wrathful anger of the Almighty will have taken hold of them....He shall cleanse the earth from the defilement of their corruption, and shall give it for an heritage unto such of His servants as are nigh unto Him.
                                                                       -Bahá 'u' lláh
Lord...how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

                                                                   -Psalms 94:3-4

The body of the human world is sick. Its remedy and healing will be the oneness of the kingdom of humanity. Its life is "The Most Great Peace". Its illumination and quickening is love. Its happiness is the attainment of spiritual perfections.

                                                                      -'Abdu'l-Bahá

Question:

What is meant by the term Progressive Revelation?

Answer:

Progressive revelation refers to the belief that God has a great plan that He unfolds to humanity in different periods in history.

God leaves not His children comfortless, but, when the darkness of winter overshadows them, then again He sends His Messengers, the Prophets, with a renewal of the blessed spring.

                                                                       -'Abdu'l-Bahá

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

                                                                         - John 14:18

Oh, trust in God! His Bounty is everlasting, and in His blessings, for they are superb. Oh! put your faith in the Almighty, for He faileth not and His goodness endureth for ever! His Sun giveth Light continually, and the Clouds of His Mercy are full of the Waters of Compassion with which He waters the hearts of all who trust in Him. His refreshing Breeze ever carries healing in its wings to the parched souls of men!

                                                                     -Romans 5:3

Religions are many, but the reality of religion is one. The days are many, but the sun is one. The fountains are many, but the fountainhead is one. The branches are many, but the tree is one.
The foundation of the divine religions is reality; were there no reality, there would be no religions. Abraham heralded reality. Muhammad was the Messenger of reality. The Báb was  the door of reality. Bahá 'u' lláh was the splendor of reality. Reality is one; it does not admit multiplicity or division. Reality is as the sun, which shines forth from different dawning points; it is as the light, which has illumined many lanterns.
Therefore, if the religions investigate reality and seek the essential truth of their own foundations, they will agree and no difference will be found.

Religion must stand the analysis of reason. It must agree with scientific fact and proof so that science will sanction religion and religion fortify science. Both are indissolubly welded and joined in reality.

                                                  -  'Abdu'l-Bahá

Relgion must be in harmony with science and reason. If it does not conform to science and reconcile with reason, it is superstition.

" The art of music is divine and effective. It is the food of the soul and spirit. Through the power and charm of music the spirit is uplifted. It has wonderful sway and effect in the hearts of children, for their hearts are pure and melodies have great influence in them. The latent talents with which the hearts of these children are endowed will find expression through the medium of music."

The Birth of Bahá 'u' lláh

He Who is the Eternal Truth hath, from the Day Spring of Glory, directed His eyes towards the people of Bahá, and is addressing them in these words: "Address yourselves to the promotion of the well-being and tranquillity of the children of men. Bend your minds and wills to the education of the peoples and kindreds of the earth, that haply the dissensions that divide it may, through the power of the Most Great Name, be blotted out from its face, and all makind become the upholders of one Order, and the habitants of one City".

                                           -Bahá 'u' lláh

It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens.

                                                -Bahá 'u' lláh

The whole world must be looked upon as one single country, all the nations as one nation, all men as beloning to one race.

                                                'Abdu'l-Bahá

Nov. 16-23, 2002

"In the world of being, the meeting is blessed when the white and colored races meet together with infinite spiritual love and heavenly harmony. When such meetings are established, and the participants associate with each other with perfect love, unity and kindness, the angels of the Kingdom praise them, and the Beauty of Bahá 'u' lláh addresseth them, "Blessed are ye! Blessed are ye! "

He (the true seeker) must never seek to exalt himself above any one, must wash away from the tablet of his heart every trace of pride and vain-glory, must cling unto patience and resignation, observe silence and refrain from idle talk. For the tongue is a smoldering fire, and excess of speech a deadly poison. Material fire consumeth the body, whereas the fire of the tongue devoureth both the heart and soul.

                                                        -Bahá 'u' lláh

But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment..

                                                          -Matthew 12:36
